Dothan City Commission approves funds for children’s afterschool feeding program

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Dothan City Commission accepted a grant for the at-risk afterschool food service program for children Tuesday morning.

The $263,117 grant will go toward the Breakfast at Tammie’s restaurant to help the business provide food to children in need.

Leisure services director Alison Hall said this will give students a safe place to go after class.

It provides them a chance to work on their homework and tutoring and get a healthy snack and a healthy dinner, and we’re grateful that we can participate in this program because again for a lot of these children and these families this is a service that without it it would be detrimental to the family.”
