Elba, Ala. (WDHN)—District One Elba City Councilman Jonathan Lockett says his first community workday was a success.
Lockett and his team of 30 to 40 volunteers stopped by mulberry heights, a predominantly minority section of the County Seat of Coffee County.
Volunteers targeted 11 streets for clean-up, paint-up, and fix-up.
Volunteers with lawnmowers tackled areas overgrown with weeds and high grass.
Councilman Lockett says workdays help instill pride in homeowners.
Lockett says volunteers filled dozens of trash bags full of garbage during the clean-up.
He says he hopes to hold a similar event in the coming months.
