COWARTS, Ala. (WDHN) - After two and a half years of work and help from both Houston County commissioners and State Rep. Paul Lee, Cowarts now has a brand new senior center.
The brand new facility will give locals a place to relax, visit with friends or grab a bite to eat.
Mayor Randy Roland was at the ribbon cutting and told us what it means for the community and what else they are bringing to Cowarts in the near future.
"For the community, it's a big plus," Roland said. "It will help grow the town. We are now in the process of building a splash pad for the kids and a playground. It will be completed next summer, and the splash pad will be the second one in Houston County."
The center will be open Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Roland invites residents of both Cowarts and Houston County to check it out.
