Councilwoman helps make sure Newton seniors have a Christmas this year

NEWTON, Ala. (WDHN) — Councilwoman Belinda Thomas is making a difference for the Newton Senior Citizens Home after the senior director told Thomas that some seniors won’t have a Christmas this year.

From there, Thomas saw the need as a leader and councilwoman. They received a $500 donation from the Dothan Real Estate Group to gift seniors with things like slippers or pajamas.

With food catered by the alexanders for them, the seniors were overwhelmed with joy.

“We were able to fund all of the inbound seniors, which is 22 seniors with that donation,” Thomas said.

Thomas said this type of gesture means a lot to seniors and she believes more people should strive and help them when you can.
