Concerns arise over Daleville PD’s handling of murder case

Local News

DALEVILLE, Ala. (WDHN) — On Nov. 24, 2018, officers responded a call about a shooting on Richardson Drive in Daleville where they found Chris Goulart dead.

They charged his brother Thomas Goulart with murder.

Now concerns have surfaced about Daleville police and how they handled the case after no autopsy was performed on the body.

We did confirm that the Dale County Sheriff’s Office was asked to conduct an investigation into how the case and how it was handled by Daleville police shortly after the murder.

All other questions were directed to the Daleville City Attorney Henry Steagall.

Steagall did tell us after a city council meeting on Tuesday night that he would have a statement in a few days, but we do not have one as of right now.

WDHN spoke with Michael Goulart’s defense attorney, David Harrison, Wednesday. We will have more on how this may affect his client and the case tonight at 10 p.m.
