City officials and residents react to new Amazon facility coming to Daleville

DALEVILLE, Ala. (WDHN) —Since the pandemic, many people have been left without a job.

That, in turn, effected their economy. The City of Daleville was one of those places.

However, a new amazon facility is expected to come sometime this week. According to city officials, the facility will generate plenty of jobs. Mayor Jayme Stayton said this is the best thing for the city and its residents.

“We’re very fortunate that we got Amazon to come here but I want the citizens of Daleville to know that we’re working hard to make jobs available for them,” said Stayton.

Many Daleville residents explained how this will make a difference.

“I think it’s a great opportunity with the lack of jobs around here then the wages that they’re paying so something like Amazon would be a great opportunity for people to get a job,” said resident Kawasee Stewart.

Others told WDHN they believe it will benefit the city, too.

“I think it’s really great that a small town like this is going to get something really nice and big and maybe help us grow a little bit. Daleville needs to grow.” said resident David Lore.

Stayton said there is more to come for Daleville but this is the first step.
