City of Enterprise warns residents of water bill payment issues

ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — The city of Enterprise is warning citizens not to use third-party sites to pay their water bills online.

“The City is not affiliated with any third-party collection company and customers’ banking information is never used on the city’s online bill-pay program,” Mayor William E. Cooper said Tuesday.

The city recently learned about the confusion of citizens using such Sites to pay their bills to the city. If residents were to not notice that the site was wrong or had outdated information, then they could end up making payments that never make it to their city account.

Cooper said using third-party sites to pay a water bill can end up being more costly. These sites charge transaction fees, and if they do not make the payment on time to the proper account, the resident could end up with a delinquent payment.

Customers can pay their water bill online at www.enterpriseal.gov.

“In the Departments dropdown menu, choose Water, then Pay Bills Online,” a city release states. “The app used on the city website is paysafenetwork.com.”
