Choctawhatchee River level is receding

Local News

Geneva, Ala. (WDHN)—Tonight, the river level on the Choctawhatchee River at Robert Fowler Park in Geneva continues to fall.

Saturday afternoon, the river crested at 20-point-9 feet, approximately two feet below the flood stage.

During Thursday’s severe weather, much of Geneva County received between seven and eight inches of rain in less than 12-hours.

Boaters say the swift current is dangerous and no one should attempt to swim in it.

While Geneva’s Robert Fowler Park is open, the playground equipment remains closed due to COVID-19.
