Business owner feels the effects of Hurricane Michael 8 months later

DONALSONVILLE, Ga. (WDHN) — Eight months ago, Hurricane Michael swept through Donalsonville, leaving behind debris and financial burdens for resident and business owners.

Ricky Hunt opened AAA Motorsports two years ago, but like many of the business owners in Donalsonville, the recovery process has not only changed the way of life for many, but it has also become a financial burden.

“It’s changed everything with us,” Ricky Hunt said. “We don’t take anything for granted just like having electricity and not having it for a couple of weeks was terrible.”

AAA Motorsports reopened after the storm ripped through the town, and although Hunt’s business remained open, there has been a slight decrease in customers. He said they are looking for innovative ways to meet the needs of future clientele and to also bring revenue back into the city.

“We are trying some marketing and some different advertisement to reach people outside of our community,” Hunt said.
