PIKE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — A section of U.S. Highway 231 in northern Pike County is closed following a major wreck involving two 18-wheelers. ALEA says northbound lanes of traffic are blocked. ALDOT’s online traffic map shows traffic delays near that stretch of highway.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the accident happened around 12:30 pm about seven to eight miles north of the Troy, Ala, city limits. Traffic is being diverted onto Pike County 7723, and Alabama State Troopers are advising drivers to find an alternate route.
Highway 231 northbound is expected to remain closed for several hours Monday afternoon as crews work to clean up the wreck.
