DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The suspects in the near-fatal robbery on Walnut Street have received a bond of $300,000 each for the charges of first-degree robbery and attempted murder, according to jail records.

Dothan police say the two men, Calvin Rommel Bivins and Michael Shanta Jones, shot a man who later ended up crashing his car on W. Powell Street and Edgewood Drive near the Head Start Center.

This was one of several shootings that took place last week, although the victim in this case made it out with critical injuries.

Both suspects have established criminal records, according to court records.

Jones pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery in 2010 while Bivins pleaded guilty to second-degree rape in 2016. Bivins was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but seven of those were suspended.

Both are still in the Houston County Jail, according to the jail records.
