Blakely officer hit with vehicle during confrontation with suspect

BLAKELY, Ga. (WDHN) — Blakely police are looking for answers in an attack on an officer on Jan. 26.

According to Chief Will Caudill, an officer began investigating a suspicious vehicle at a closed business on East Highway 62 around 8:10 p.m. The driver then sped off, hitting the officer with the vehicle.

During the incident, the officer fired his gun as well.

The suspect escaped while emergency services took the officer to Lifebrite
Community Hospital. Caudill said the officer is now in good condition.

To help find the person responsible, the Blakely Police Department is working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. They are also investigating the officer’s use of force.
