‘Best Hustle Award’ goes to Samson High School

Local News

GENEVA COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Samson High School will receive the ‘Best Hustle Award’ for successfully improving their early Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion by more than 10-percent from 2019 to 2020.

Alabama Possible is a statewide non-profit organization that breaks down barriers to prosperity and they’ve announced Samson High School as one of the 51 high schools in Alabama that received the Best Hustle Award.

Samson High School Counselor, Sarah Allen says Enterprise State Community College assisted the students with the application process. “ESCC reached out and we set a date for FAFSA night and we advertised it for a couple of weeks on Facebook and almost 50 percent of our seniors came out and applied for FAFSA that night and have received award letters.” Allen said.

Governor Ivey’s “Success Plus” initiative plan recognizes the critical role that financial aid plays in making education after high school accessible and affordable.
