COTTONDALE, Fla. (WDHN) — A Fort Walton Beach man is facing numerous charges after he allegedly kidnapped a woman at gunpoint.

According to a release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, its communication center received a message from Loves Truck Stop in Cottondale Sunday about a potential kidnapping.

The victim in question was a Fort Walton Beach woman who told employees that she was forced into her own car at gunpoint by suspect Albert Chester McKinnie, 36, who was waiting outside.

” Further investigation has revealed the victim was kidnapped from Fort Walton Beach earlier in the morning,” the release states. “The victim stated they had been driving around all the time, while the suspect held the gun to her threatening along the way and committing battery on her.”

When they got to Loves, the woman had reportedly convinced McKinnie that she needed to use the restroom, giving her the chance to notify the staff of her situation.

Deputies then got the Cottondale Police Department to respond to the situation and make contact with McKinnie, who then took off in the woman’s white Cadillac XTS.

This began a high-speed chase where a sheriff’s deputy picked up the pursuit. In response, McKinnie, who is said to have driven 100 mph at this time, began throwing bags out of the car and onto the road.

The suspect then continued traveling west into Washington County. A Florida Highway Patrol trooper that was stopping traffic at the intersection of Highway 231 and Kynesville Highway then took over the chase.

“After the suspect almost hit several vehicles, the Florida Highway Patrol trooper found a safe area to conduct the PIT maneuver, which caused the suspect vehicle to lose control and run off of the roadway, ending the highspeed pursuit,” the release states.

After this, McKinnie was arrested and taken into the Washington County Jail. He faces charges for fleeing police, robbery (carjacking with a firearm), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine, grand theft motor vehicle and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana.

Arrested: Albert Chester McKinnie, age 36, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida
Charges: Flee/Elude Police; Robbery (Carjacking with a Firearm); Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon; Possession of Cocaine; Grand Theft Motor Vehicle and Possession of Marijuana less than 20 grams.
