Ashford students paint mural on downtown building

ASHFORD, Ala. (WDHN) — A group of Ashford students is looking to brighten up the town.

With direction from Architect Charles Sims, students are painting a mural on the side of a downtown building in the courtyard. Students will paint over an old and faded mural. In its place, there will be a painting of a train headed to the depot.

It’s good to know that your family is going to be driving by here and saying, well my dad had something to do with that or my son or my nephew, my grandson. I think it’s really special, Trace Watson said.

The project is sponsored by the city of Ashford, the Chamber of Commerce, Summerford Trucking, and the Ashford True Value store. The students hope to complete the mural within the next week or two.
