DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — It’s probably one of the most anticipated games of the year: the Georgia Bulldogs versus the Crimson Tide, but with Nick Saban testing positive for COVID-19, fans are worried.

“Us bama fans are all worried right now these are two great offensive teams that are going to clash together this Saturday so we are just waiting on the edge of our seats to see what’s gonna happen,” Kimberly Smith said.

Fans got the news Wednesday morning that Saban tested positive. They said their biggest concern is Georgia’s defensive team.

With the Bulldogs probably having the best defensive team in the country, many fans said this is exactly why they need Nick Saban at the game.

“I think if it had been a different game or opponent, maybe many Alabama fans wouldn’t be as worried,” said Gary Gibson, WOOF radio host of SportsTALK. “But this is Georgia, and they’re coming with probably if not the best defense in the country. It’s top five. It’s going to be a difficult team to prepare for.”

While the game may be difficult without Saban there, fans hope that the players will be able to bring home the win for him instead.

They believe this will be motivation for them.

“It’s not good that he’s not going to be there but like I said I think that the players are going to really show out and prove that all the things that he has taught them they can handle it,” Misty Morgan said.

Overall, fans wish Nick Saban a safe and speedy recovery.
