Frisco Community, Ala. (WDHN)—Recently, the Coffee County Commission got some good news.
The Alabama Department of Environmental Management awarded a “scrap tire marketing grant.”
Nearly 289-thousand dollars will be a test for the state in the use of “recycled tire materials” in road construction.
It’ll be used in the resurfacing of Coffee County Road 110 in the Frisco Community.
For several years, the modified asphalt has been successful in Georgia.
In addition to extending the life of a road, the “rubber-modified” asphalt will prevent tens-of-thousands of “old tires” from making it to landfills across Alabama.
