DOTHAN, ALA. (WDHN) — Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth said he is prepared to assist the governor as she prepares for her cancer treatment program.

Ainsworth visited the Dothan Rotary Club as its keynote speaker Monday to speak on several topics, including military support and economic growth.

He also spoke on Gov. Kay Ivey’s recent diagnosis and said it hasn’t affected her on the job.

“So I mean, Governor Ivey doesn’t need any help,” Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth said. “You know right now it hasn’t deterred her at all from doing her job. She’s strong, she’s working hard, but obviously, we’re in constant contact with her. Anything she needs, our office will do to help her.”

Ainsworth wants to help the governor anyway he can, and he wants to focus on helping Ivey and working with the House and Senate to get Ivey’s agenda done.

He said the governor is doing really well and expects her to be back to normal in no time.

“She’s in great shape and you know, we expect her to beat this cancer and make a full recovery,” Ainsworth said.
