Local News

Geneva, Ala. (WDHN)—On Monday, construction was “halted” on the construction of the new Geneva County Jail. Sheriff Tony Helms says an employee for a sub-contractor has tested “positive” for the coronavirus. Those who’ve been exposed to the infected individual are also being “tested”.

In addition, Sheriff Helms says an “outside” cleaning company will be brought in to “fumigate” and “sanitize” the building which is nearly ready for occupancy.

Sheriff Helms said he is checking with his employees and courthouse personnel to see if anyone may have been in close contact with the “infected” individual.
