COFFEE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Coffee County Schools now have two more confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to three.
On Saturday, August 15, Coffee County administrators were notified that one elementary student at Zion Chapel tested positive for COVID-19. Then, on August 18, they were notified that a Zion Chapel High School student had also tested positive for the virus.
According to the school, administrators, notified the affected students’ guardians as well as the teachers who had been in “close proximity” of the infected students. Those students were sent home before entering the school and are now in quarantine.
School officials said the Alabama Department of Public Health was notified of each case by the lead nurse.
