DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Winn-Dixie located off Westgate Parkway implemented some new changes to the store in March regarding COVID-19.
“When it begin to hit hard on our end the company based out of Jacksonville seen some stuff that was different so by them seeing it they started migrating it through the stores. The most biggest thing was precaution,” Store Manager Marvin Ligon said.
The store has been taking extreme precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. If you walk in, you will see protective plexiglass at all registers, cashiers wiping down the area after each customer, shopping carts being sanitized, floor markers for shoppers to maintain social distancing and many more safety precautions.
Store manager Marvin Ligon says it can be a lot but the duty is needed for his workers and employees.
“All of these things are in place not only for the safety of the customer but the associates too. Our PPE is working we check the temperatures of our employees everyday, we log it and keep a file of it. It doesn’t mean nothing cant happen its just a precaution we take to make sure we’re keeping our customer and associates safe,” Ligon said.
One customer says she know its a lot of hard work for the store but she appreciates them for going over and beyond during this hard time.
“Like the cleanliness of the store and keeping the carts clean and just reassuring the customers they are doing everything they can to keep everybody shopping,” Shopper Shelley Reynolds said.
The pharmacy department is also taking precautions and providing curbside assistance. For those who are not comfortable entering the store, you can order groceries through Shipt.
