DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — With multiple structure fires occurring over the past few days and the heat index being in triple digits, it’s getting harder for local fire departments to put out fires as quickly as they’d like.
The department is looking for more helping hands to get the job done.
“We can’t function the way we usually can. It’s already hot and then you mix the fire with that and it is just too hot,” Assistant Fire Chief Nick Floyd said.
“Volunteers are kind of a thing in the past now. We would love more members and we need more help,” Firefighter Cameron Knighton said.
