COLUMBIA, Ala. (WDHN) — The Columbia Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department is asking the community for donations.
The department is building a new fire station, and even with the grant given by the state of Alabama, the department needs help.
Columbia Fire Chief Joshua Martin explained that all donations will go back into the building.
“So the donations are going to go towards helping to build the station. The state has helped us out and given us a very large lump sum but it’s still not quite enough to cover the cost of the station. Commercial buildings like this are actually really high and the price of construction is really high, so it covered about a third of it if I had to put a number on it,” Martin said.
Chief Martin said to contact the city hall and ask for Rhonda or Brianna.
