DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Joe Wink’s Barbershop gave out 100 free haircuts and book bags of school supplies to children and families in need Saturday.
Over the past few months, the barbershop has been working with nonprofit organizations such as The Exchange Center, The Harbor, and Wiregrass 2-1-1 for a way to help the community.
Local barbers from all over Dothan helped out with the good deed. In order to receive the free haircut and school supplies, there was a process to go through for approval.
“The way that it works, we had an email address, so that they can email and send the form. It was the first 100 people that signed up and the appointments were booked, and then the registration shut off,” Owner Ami Riley said.
If you were not able to get registered this year, the barbershop is looking to continue helping the community for years to come in hopes of more applicants.
