Kinsey experiences growing pains and financial concerns

KINSEY, Ala. (WDHN) — The town of Kinsey held its monthly council meeting Thursday.

During that time, a resident voiced his opinion about the financial status of the town.

“The last time the accountant said yall didn’t have to pay for the reports, and another thing in 1992, when yall started the zoning board, they had to rotate off every year,” Tommy Fergurson said. “Is it still that way?”

According to council members, the rotation policy was updated about 4 to 5 years ago.

Douglas said the town is working towards progression.

“We have back audits done by an agreed-upon procedure, and we don’t have that report back, so there are citizens questioning why we haven’t done them and where the reports are,” Mayor Douglas said. “Soon as we have it, we will make it public.”
