DONALSONVILLE, Ga. (WDHN) — Over the weekend, a few city hall employees tested positive for COVID-19.

We spoke to city manager Steve Hicks on what steps they are now taking.

According to Hicks, six employees contracted the coronavirus. All other workers have been notified and because of the outbreak, city hall will remain closed until further notice.

However, city hall workers have taken steps to get back on track.

“To take some precautions, we closed it off for a couple days,” Hicks said. “We had the area deep cleaned this weekend, and we’re getting some testing done of some other employees.”

Hicks said the deep cleaning will mean sanitizing computers, telephones and more.

The public has limited access to the building and must schedule an appointment for services.

Being an essential service, Hicks said ensuring the safety of employees and citizens is city officials’ first priority.
