(WDHN) — Houston County offices and courthouse will be closed on Christmas Eve.
The decision comes after the commission approved a request to declare December 24th a state holiday.
Governor Ivey established Christmas Eve as a holiday a couple of weeks ago and Houston County is following suit.
“We establish our holidays early in the year and we try to mirror the state holidays because we, counties in the state of Alabama, are basically an arm of the state,” Houston County Chairman Mark Culver said. “All the computers and everything else we use is tied in with the state.”
Anyone that works at these places doesn’t have to worry about scheduling to be off in advance.
