House fire in Kinsey leaves one man dead


WDHN was live on the scene of a house fire in Kinsey on Chevrolet Street.

According to reports, authorities received the call around 6 this evening.

Multiple first responders raced to the scene of the fire. The Houston County Sheriff Deputies, the Dothan Fire Department, and various volunteer fire departments lined the streets of the neighborhood working to put out the blaze.

WDHN spoke with Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza who said they are still very early into the investigation phase of this fire

“Well we had a structure fire where we’ve had one deceased there were two in the house, one got out. Right now we have the state fire marshall and our investigators working it to try to find out the point of origin, what caused it,” Valenza said.

Valenza also said an investigation won’t be able to start until the structure cools.

Houston County Coroner, Robert Bryd was able to identify the victim as Herman Daniels Jr. Born in 1952. He lived with his mother who was in the house with him, but she was able to escape the fire.
