ORIGINAL REPORT

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — High speed chaos tonight on Ross Clark Circle and we’re told it was simply over stolen clothes from a local retailer.

Only WDHN was there when the suspect, a mother, was cuffed and put into a Houston County Sheriff’s Deputy Tahoe.

The chase all started when an undercover county unit spotted the Nissan Altima at the center of the chaos.

There were warnings to be looking for the vehicle.

The driver sped off with her child in the back seat enduring the chase and deputies used the pit maneuver to stop the vehicle in front of Applebee’s.

The Altima driver hit a small SUV at the intersection of West Main and Ross Clark as well.

Eluding law enforcement is simply a misdemeanor crime in Alabama, it’s highly possible the woman could be out on bail now.

The child, three years old, was taken to a hospital with a law enforcement escort.
