ORIGINAL REPORT:

TROY, Ala. (WDHN) — Troy police are searching for an escapee from the Troy City Jail, according to an online post.

The department said that Jackson Lamar Harris escaped from the facility around 10:30 a.m. Thursday while wearing orange coveralls but no shoes.

Currently, there is a large presence of officers and a helicopter from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency looking for the inmate around Wiley Street between City Hall and South Knox Street and Martin Luther King Drive to Academy Street behind the library.

The TPD said Harris was in jail for a contempt of court charge and that he was “a known drug user.” If you see him, call 911.
