HEADLAND, Ala. (WDHN) — A Wiregrass town, Headland, received their Main Street Alabama designation.
Heart of Headland Mayor, Ray Marler, announced the town had been selected along with 24 others to receive help with work planning, economic development, and technical assistance.
A representative from Heart of Headland, Adrienne Wilkins, believe it was because of how much love people have for the town.
“All the love and dedication and support that came from our community. We collected love letters from our communities about how much they cared and loved about Headland and we used that for our presentation. The board came back with resounding support and just saying we were completely impressed with all the support and the enthusiasm,” Wilkins said.
The next step will involve Main Street Alabama returning in the coming months to hold training sessions and help set up a board to oversee the progress.
