DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A large crowd of protesters gathered on the Houston County Courthouse steps and sidewalk in a peaceful protest against the death of George Floyd and police brutality.
Sunday afternoon, protesters in downtown Dothan could be heard and seen chanting the names of past victims including Floyd and Breonna Taylor. Cars drove by honking in support of the gathering.
According to the protest’s Facebook description, the event was organized to “bring awareness of the injustices suffered by the black/brown people of our country.” Protest organizers also plan to kneel “in solidarity for the last 5-10 minutes of the protest.”
The protest is expected to last from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
WDHN was live at the protest; you can watch the Facebook Live video here.
