MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WDHN) — It has been 75 years since the Holocaust. Governor Kay Ivey honored the survivors at the State Capitol Tuesday.

The Alabama Holocaust Commission held their annual Yom HaShoah days of the commemoration program. Auburn men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl was the keynote speaker and used the event to talk about the recent tragedies that have occurred against Jewish people.

“There is too much racism. We are all God’s children. We break his heart every time we put hate upon each other,” Pearl said.

Governor Ivey proclaimed this week as days of remembrance in Alabama to honor victims and survivors of the Holocaust.
