GENEVA, Ala. (WDHN) — Governor Ivey announced a $2.6 million grant for outdoor recreational facilities in 12 Alabama communities.
Geneva was one of those communities that will receive $348,550 that they plan to use on making a soccer complex. The complex will be built at C.D. Chapman Memorial Park and the mayor says they need it.
“With these two fields being erected it will be a state of the art field. We’re going to have lighted fields with bleachers,” Mayor Frankie Lindsey said.
The mayor says soccer is a big deal around Geneva and they hope to start on the fields by the first of the year.
