GENEVA, Ala. (WDHN) — Geneva Mayor Frankie Lindsey received an early Christmas gift from Governor Kay Ivey’s office.
The “City of Two Rivers” has been selected to receive a $450,000 community development block grant. Geneva will match that amount and the funds will replace century-old sewer lines.
Once complete, the project is expected to alleviate chronic street flooding during heavy rains.
“It costs around $900,000,” Lindsey said. “The city will put in $450,000. It’s a 50-50 grant, something I wanted to do since becoming mayor, and now it’s coming true.”
Lindsey hopes to get the sewer replacement project underway by next spring.
