Geneva Chamber of Commerce holds auction in hopes of a monument

GENEVA, Ala. (WDHN) — With Veteran’s Day coming on Monday, the Geneva City Chamber of Commerce held a patriotic auction Thursday night.

Geneva’s Robert Fowler Park is named after “late” Staff Sgt. Robert Fowler was killed in action during the 1968 tet offensive in Vietnam.

The city is raising more than 35-hundred dollars to place a monument dedicated to Sgt. Fowler.

It has been very successful we should have raised around the amount that it’ll cost to build and install. It has been a fantastic night,” Mayor Frankie Lindsey said.

Mayor Lindsey says he hopes the monument can be built at the entranceway of Robert Fowler Park in early 2020.
