MARIANNA, Fla. (WDHN) — The Marianna Police Department arrested two fugitives Monday, one of whom was wanted for failing to appear in court on a homicide charge.

Officers originally stopped Sara Butner of Pensacola and Mississippi resident Melvin Miles for an equipment violation on Butner’s Nissan Pathfinder, according to a release from the department.

The release states that they eventually discovered that the tag on the car was stolen from Pensacola, and Butner had a warrant for her arrest on because of the homicide charge from Mobile County. To add to that, Butner was driving on a suspended license.

Miles, on the other hand, was reported to be on parole for having materials to create methamphetamine. After violating his parole by leaving the area, the Mississippi Department of Corrections released a violation warrant for his arrest.

Both were taken to the Jackson County Correctional Facility for their first appearance in court. They now face potential fugitive charges.
