ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — The Enterprise Chamber of Commerce held a welcome reception Tuesday evening honoring Ft. Rucker’s new commanding general — Maj. General David Francis.

General Francis took command from Maj. General William Gayler after he was transferred to Germany.

Although General Francis has been on the job for a few months now, he received his key to the city from Mayor Bill Cooper.

Francis says he loves Enterprise and what it’s all about.

“45 percent of the residents in Enterprise are veterans and we’re very connected to our veterans,” Maj. General Francis said. “We call it the soldier for life program that even if you depart from the military, you’re still part of our family and Enterprise has done that exceedingly well.”

General Francis says he’s very thankful for the support around the Wiregrass.
