DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Although there has been a lot of talk about the coronavirus, the flu is still relevant as well.
Flu season is active till about the beginning of April. Reports estimate around 26 million cases throughout the country and 14,000 deaths. There have been five deaths in Alabama alone.
At this time, there are no cases of coronavirus in Alabama. However, if you have flu-like symptoms, don’t hesitate on getting checked out. It can prevent the disease from becoming bigger and spreading.
“If you have those influenza type symptoms, you should go see your local health provider. They can give you the flu test and they’ll tell you if it’s positive for flu and if it’s not they have something they can give you to determine if there’s something else,” Southeastern District Administrator Corey Kirkland said.
Kirkland says follow all of the precautions such as getting vaccinated, washing your hands, and covering your coughs and sneezes in hopes of avoiding the sick bug.
