ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — Job seekers in the Coffee County area had a chance to make a good impression and possibly find a job at the 16th annual Wiregrass/Fort Rucker Area Job Fair.

The job fair that took place Wednesday at Enterprise State Community College.

More than 7,200 jobs from around 140 companies around the country were available for those who attended the job fair. While the event took place on ESCC’s campus, the public was also invited to take part.

“This is the perfect opportunity where there’s a large amount of attraction from the community because this job fair has been going on for 16 years,” said Ryan Richards, Director of Southeast AlabamaWorks. “So, people are aware of it. There’s a lot of good opportunities for people to network with local companies and companies that are beyond just local that are hiring.”

According to Richards, there were over 600 job seekers that signed up for the job fair.

“Anybody looking for a job, the advice I would give them is not to give up,” said Chelsea Johnston, John Brooks Junior Agency employee. “Take it from someone who took nine years to graduate from college, never give up, just keep going until you find what you want to do.”

One attendee said that seeing all the employers come from different places and offer job opportunities is a big thing.

“I’m really grateful just talking to these people and they’re literally offering to give you chances to learn just more information about what it is (they do),” Shetavia McCray said. “They’ve been very helpful out here today.”

ESCC held free job readiness classes for the public as a way to help prepare attendees for the event.
