ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — With municipal elections coming on Aug. 25, there are safety concerns about going to the polls. For Enterprise, they will have the election at the M.N. Jug Brown Recreation Center.
Safety for poll workers and voters is they’re number one concern.
“We’ll make sure that the facilities are sanitized. The poll workers will have gloves and masks on at all times. We’ll have hand sanitizer available when people are walking in and walking out, and it’ll be continuous cleaning throughout the day,” Enterprise Director of Parks and Reaction Billy Powell said.
For social distancing, while voting, the facility will have certain areas for voters to go and there will be dividers at the voting areas. Powell says they will keep those areas clean.
“We’ll do what we can to keep that area sanitized and clean as individuals once they use and leave that area,” Powell said.
Powell understands that this can be a stressful time and people may get frustrated, but he asks people to please be patient.
“Be patient with the process you know we’re going to ask everyone to keep their social distancing unless they’re family members. Respect everyone with this process because we want to make sure everyone had the right to come out and vote and we want to make sure that they understand that we’re going to try to keep them safe for doing that.” Powell added.
