DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Enterprise Police Department is warning citizens of another phone scam Thursday.
According to Enterprise PD, the calls are made to look like they’re coming from the city government. The callers ask citizens to pay city fines, requesting their credit card information.
“The city will NOT ask for payment over the phone, and citizens should know that any such call asking for payment is not valid and does not come from any city office,” the department said on its Facebook page.
This scam appears to be similar in nature to another scam reported by Houston County Sheriff’s Office, in which the callers are pretending to be with the sheriff’s office to get money from unsuspecting citizens.
In that case, the callers were believed to be outside of south Alabama and the United States.
