Enterprise mayoral candidate calls for a recount

ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — The Enterprise City Council held a special called meeting Wednesday night regarding municipal elections.

Initially, mayoral candidates Lister Reeves and Perry Vickers requested a recount of the votes.

During the meeting Wednesday night, council president Perry Vickers withdrew his name from the petition.

Reeves says he was 52 votes away from Bill Baker’s spot and after talking with friends and supporters, that was the deciding factor in going this route.

“I started to begin to feel perhaps maybe the integrity of our voting system had been compromised it maybe some of the voting ballot machines had not been calculated properly and did not count the numbers properly,” Reeves said.

Reeves says a recount wasn’t his first idea because he didn’t want to seem like a sore loser, but he wants to make sure everybody’s vote counted. The recount will be Friday morning at 10:30 at the Enterprise Recreation Center.
