ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — One of the victims in the Pensacola shooting was Enterprise native Joshua Kaleb Watson, an alumnus of Enterprise High School.
People that knew him are heartbroken.
“My heart is breaking for the Watson family,” Watson’s former principal Matt Rodgers said. “I’m deeply saddened about Joshua’s passing. It was an honor to work with him at enterprise high school. I’ve never met a finer young man than Josh Watson.”
Joshua ran towards the shooting before being shot at least 5 times. He then was able to get away and get to first responders giving them details on the shooter which helped save lives.
“He was able to save the lives of others and that shows you the military part of it and the young man that he was,” Enterprise Mayor Bill Cooper said. “No doubt had he not done what he had done possibility that many other lives, possibly would have been lost.”
Many people said it was a heroic action from Watson.
“I’m not shocked at all by Josh’s heroics,” Rodgers said. “That’s the way he lived his life. He knew he wanted to serve his country and he did just that by going to the naval academy and then later serving, and I’m not shocked at all by what he did on that day.”
