Election info to be under greater security, says Merrill

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — John Merrill spoke to the Houston County Republican Women Thursday morning to talk about things happening in the secretary of state’s office and answer questions about election security.

Merrill said Alabama election system has never been hacked or compromise, and new concepts are being introduced to help assist in the voting process.

“We don’t want that information to be compromised, and we don’t want anyone to have access to it when that’s not authorized too so that’s why we continue to be diligent in our efforts,” he said.

Merril said he wants the process to be efficient, safe and effective when voters head to the polls.
