ELBA, Ala. (WDHN) — The year of 2021 is off to a chilling start in Elba after police found a woman dead in her home.
On Sunday, Elba Police made a shocking discovery after responding to a requested welfare check when they found 28-year old Shaquetha Tyson.
Loved ones of Tyson were saddened by this and knew something was wrong when they didn’t hear from her.
“We’re a very tight family and we really knew something was wrong when we couldn’t get in touch with her and she wasn’t picking up her phone,” said sister, Shabrecka Tyson said.
This was their worst nightmare.
James Edward Lee, Tyson’s boyfriend is now being charged with murder for her death with more charges pending.
Neighbors said these type of tragedies aren’t normal in their neighborhood.
Arresting Lee was the first step of justice for their family and Shabreka believes this is how the community will prevent this in the future.
“For them to get justice and keep people like this off the streets and not let I don’t even want this person to see daylight again, they don’t need to be out,” said Tyson.
Shabrecka wants people to remember her sister as someone who was loved by everyone and always willing to help anyone.
