DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Friends of the Library held a book sale at the Dothan-Houston County Library.
At the sale, there were a variety of books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, cassette tapes, and games. Most of the books at the sale have been donated by people in the community. The price for those items was fairly inexpensive. Customers could stuff a large brown grocery sack of books for $20.
The money raised from the book sale went towards improvements to the library such as replacing the air conditioner.
“If you come into the library over the summer, you’ll notice it has been really hot. The air conditioner needed to be replaced which was an unexpected expense for the library, so every book you buy will go towards that air conditioner” Everlie Bolton said.
According to Bolton, a board member of Friends of the Library, this year’s sale has been a success.
“We’re doing good. This has already been our most successful sale so far. We have had lots of shoppers and word is getting out that this is the place to go to get really great high-quality books,” She said.
The book sale takes place twice a year at the downtown library. If you happened to miss this year’s, the next sale will be in February.
