Dothan sees an increase in tourism

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan visitors are in full effect.

If you have been driving on the circle lately, you might have noticed an increase in traffic. Over the weekend, the BMX tour made a stop in Dothan which brought in 4500 people to Westgate Park. The Future Masters Golf Tournament kicked off on Monday making this the busiest time of the year.

“Certainly, Masters are always on the calendar it’s the 70th year. We were aware of all the events taking place. The hotels were ready, and the whole city is too,” said Aaron McCreight, the president of Visit Dothan.

The impact should be immediate for retailers. The events can also produce major revenue for the city of Dothan and Houston County.
