DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Dothan Fire Department placed the city of Dothan under a ‘no burn order’ Monday, effective immediately.
Until the city gets enough rainfall to lessen the chance of fires breaking out, the Fire Prevention Division will not give out any more outdoor burning permits. Under this order, residents cannot even burn trash inside containers.
“The safety of our citizens and the protection of their property will always be paramount in our decision-making process”. Fire Chief Larry Williams said. “Due to the lack of rainfall, coupled with the low humidity conditions over the past weeks, conditions are too dangerous to allow any outdoor burning at this time.”
As it stands, there is a small chance of rain for this weekend, according to WDHN meteorologist Caroline Coe.
