Dothan pastor battling COVID-19 says ‘prayer works’ as he recovers

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A local pastor is crediting his road to recovery against COVID-19 to God and prayers.

What Pastor Ray Jones of Ridgecrest Baptist Church thought was just a sinus infection turned out to be more. After having symptoms of headaches, he went and got checked, testing positive for COVID-19.

He said his church has been the most supportive.

“I’m a blessed pastor,” Jones said. “I have a wonderful congregation of people, and they love the Lord, and I think they over their pastor and they’ve been very good in supporting us, encouraging us, praying for us.”

Jones said his wife tested negative, but after a day, she had the same symptoms. Doctors treated it the same way and required both of them to quarantine.

Now, he says he is feeling good and blessed.

“It’s been great, and I really believe that prayer works, and I believe so many of our folks praying for their pastor and pastor’s wife has made a difference for us,” Jones said.

Jones had a special message for his church family.

“I just want to reiterate to them how much I love them and how much I look forward to being back this Sunday to share God’s word,” he said.
